Smoothie franchise owners open second location, with third planned, as they aggressively grow their local footprint in a busy part of the state
Consumers who have become loyal patrons of the Newark, DE, Planet Smoothie franchise soon will have more choices. Owners Leonard and Renee Resetar are opening a second location in nearby Rehoboth Beach, and say they eventually want to plant a third location in Middletown.
According to local press coverage, the Resetars opened in Newark just over a year ago, and have grown the business by offering a full complement of Planet Smoothie products to consumers looking for breakfast, meal replacement or post-workout snack.
Owners enjoy social aspect of business
Making smoothies reminds Leonard Resetar of his college bartending days in his hometown of Hellertown, Pennsylvania, he told the interviewer.
“I kind of like that atmosphere, with the public. I like people,” he said. “You still have the same social aspect. You’re still blending and making drinks.”
Fun vibe can create steady business
The Resetars say they found Planet Smoothie through an online search when they began looking at business-ownership opportunities. Prior to becoming Planet Smoothie franchise owners, they both held jobs in the banking and aviation fields. Leonard Resetar continues to direct maintenance work for a private-jet owner, while Renee Resetar handles franchise operations full time.
“We were just searching for something healthy and fun to do,” Leonard Resetar said. “There aren’t a lot [of other smoothie franchises] real close in our vicinity, which is good. We’ve had to educate a little bit here in Delaware.”
